Mast Roller - The lift truck mast is an important piece of the forklift's structure. These forklifts or likewise called forklift vehicles are industrial machinery used in order to raise and transport merchandise.
The mast is a vertical assembly that is responsible for lowering and raising cargo. The mast of a lift truck has interlocking rails to give some sideways support. These rails are guided by bushings or rollers.
The masts on lift trucks use metal plates in order to transport goods and are powered by hydraulic mechanisms. Hydraulics is defined by the transmission of power through the use of a pressurized fluid, which in this case is oil. Hydraulic cylinders which link directly to the forklift engine are responsible for driving the mast, causing it to lower, lift or tilt a load. The pressurized oil drives the cylinder piston to be able to move in a linear motion, or in strokes. The mast is normally operated via a handle within the cab or positioned in the area of the forklift that houses the lift truck control parts and the operator.
A swing mast defines a forklift truck using a mast which can turn in a 90 degree angle in one direction. This design enables the swing mast to operate in aisles which are less than 6 feet wide.
